About Us

Cowley Conservation District

Here at the Cowley County Conservation District, we focus on water quality, soil management to limit erosion and run-off, and critical habitat areas; and guiding use through project implementation, outreach, and education of best management practices, enhancement, and development to benefit present and future citizens.

Our Mission

The mission of the Cowley County Conservation District is to protect, conserve, and improve the natural resources of the district.

Our Team

The Cowley County Conservation District is a subdivision of the State of Kansas. It is operated by a locally elected board of five supervisors and an appointed advisor. Our agency is housed in the same USDA Service Center as the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Farm Service Agency (FSA).

Conservation Banker Awards

Each year we have a program that honors farmers or ranchers who have displayed outstanding efforts in conservation practices. Once again, the Kansas Bankers Association is sponsoring this annual event. Nominations for individuals whose efforts have gone above and beyond in one or more of the conservation categories can be submitted by calling the Conservation District @ (620) 402-3107.

The Selection Committee made up of representatives from the Kansas Bankers Association, K-State Extension Office, NRCS, and Conservation District will make the final selection.  Award presentations will be given at the annual Conservation District meeting and banquet each February.
